2007
Gemstone Logistics Inc. formed
With over 40 years’ experience working directly for the largest oil and gas companies in numerous remote locations throughout Canada, Tom McHale, Gemstone’s Founder and CEO, understands the challenges and frustrations associated with workforce logistics.
Tom wanted to drive the pace of change when it came to the processes relating to workforce travel and accommodation. He formed Gemstone to provide air transportation consulting services for large-scale resource and construction projects and set about changing the way charter flights brought workers to remote sites across Canada. Over the years the focus of the company evolved, as the need to do even more to integrate fragmented workforce logistics systems and processes became obvious.
2013
CIRYS is created
We launched our proprietary software, CIRYS, as an innovative solution to the industry-wide challenge identified years before. CIRYS has successfully transformed travel and accommodation management processes among many major resource companies – saving clients millions of dollars along the way.
2015
Orissa Software Inc. acquired
We strengthened our suite of workforce management services by acquiring Orissa Software Inc., the market leader in accommodation and guest management services for remote workforce accommodation sites. Integrating Orissa’s CampWare software with CIRYS enabled us to offer end-to-end travel and accommodation reservation and reporting capabilities.
2018
Global expansion
Gemstone wins its first software contract outside of North America, enabling Petroleum Development Oman to gain significant control and insight over their accommodation estate.
2019
In the cloud
The next-generation version of our accommodation management tool, CampWare 3.0, is launched in the cloud, completing the journey to have Gemstone applications hosted on the web.
2023
OneStone Development Begins
Gemstone embarks on a transformative journey to create the next generation of travel and accommodation software, OneStone. The initiative aims to consolidate our existing multiple platforms with a single, state-of-the-art application. This new solution will integrate the tried-and-true process concepts from our existing platforms, while also introducing enhanced features powered by the latest technology.
